Explore the “New Art of Cookery”

This first English translation gives guidelines for today’s cooks alongside the original text, and interweaves a new narrated history portraying 18th-century Spain, its everyday life, and food culture. The author explores links between New Art’s dishes and modern Spanish cookery, tells the story of her search to identify the book’s author and understand the popularity of his book for over 150 years, and takes cooks, historians, landscape lovers and students of Spanish language, culture, and cookery on a fascinating journey to the world of Altamiras and, most important of all, his kitchen. As well as the usual drinks and snacks, Vicky will bring along a sampling of genuine Altamiras flavours to sample during the session!
This event will take an interview format, with Vicky discussing the book and its evolution, and reading extracts from it. There may also be a surprise or two! Whilst the event is free, places are limited and we do ask that you buy a 3€ voucher, redeemable at the event. Altamiras´s flavours, drinks and snacks will be served
